Hike Levels
Geckos – For those new to hiking or just coming back from a long time away or families with small ones.
- Pace – easy (don’t know or care what your pace is!)
- Distance – 2 to 3 miles
- Terrain – mostly flat
- Rest stops – frequent, with lots of fellowship
- Duration – 1 to 2 hours
Prairie Dogs – For the casual hiker and families who desire exercise and are happy to smell the sagebrush while getting it.
- Pace – varying, with some challenge
- Distance – 3 to 4 miles
- Terrain – usually a combination of mostly flat and some elevation variation (depending on location)
- Rest stops –frequent, as needed
- Duration – 2 to 2.5 hours
Coyotes – For the experienced hiker in good shape who desires energetic activity and the opportunity to stop and smell the sagebrush only occasionally.
- Pace – brisk though varying as needed, according to elevation gain or loss
- Distance – 4 to 7 miles
- Terrain – some hills
- Rest stops – several, as needed
- Duration – 2 to 3 hours
Jackrabbits – For the serious, go-fast hiker who desires the challenge of speed and distance and prefers to race past the sagebrush rather than smell it!
- Pace – fast and steady, even during elevation gain or loss
- Distance – 5 to 8 miles
- Terrain – some hills
- Rest stops – few, if any
- Duration – 2 to 3 hours
