Where

Come join us at Lost Dutchman State Park for Fellowship Adventures first event of the New Year!  This park is named after the fabled lost gold mine and is located in the Sonoran Desert, 40 miles east of Phoenix. There will be hiking for all levels.  Also, there will be a Prairie Dog level "nature hike" exploring the wonders of God's creation.

When

Groups will start hiking at 9:00 AM and everyone should be done by 1:00 PM. Please plan to be at the registration tables by 8:30 AM to be assigned to your group so we can start hiking on time.

Location/Directions

From Calvary Community Church's central campus, drive south on I-17, then east on I-10 to 202-Loop East. After 26 miles, take exit 26, Brown Rd and go east (left) for .08 miles. Enter the next roundabout and take the 3rd exit onto E Brown Rd. Pass through 1 roundabout and go about 3.5 miles (E Brown Rd becomes Lost Dutchman Blvd). Take a left on N Apache Trl/AZ-88 and go 2.7 miles to the park entrance Look for Fellowship Adventures signs.

Carpooling

Although there is lots of parking, we encourage carpooling.  You can sign up for carpooling during the registration process.  For details on carpooling, see the Carpooling section of the "Things to Know" page.

Carpools will meet at Calvary central campus (west side by the mailboxes), with the last carpool leaving at 7:30 AM. Carpool riders should prepare to cover driver’s expenses (gas and any other expenses incurred in transporting passengers to the event).

Cost

Hike only: No fee

Park entrance fee:  $7 per vehicle (up to four adults)

Hiking

This hike will include 4 levels of hiking. You will sign up for a level when registering.  The levels are listed below, or see levels of difficulty for more details.  Remember to bring lots of water.  Although the weather is cooler and more refreshing, you will still need to stay hydrated.

Roadrunners – For the serious, go-fast hiker who desires the challenge of speed and distance (7 to 10 miles) and prefers to race past the sagebrush rather than smell it!

Coyotes – For the recreational hiker who desires energetic physical activity (4 to 7 miles) and the opportunity to stop and smell the sagebrush.

Prairie Dogs – For the casual hiker and families who want to get some exercise (about 3 miles) but stop to enjoy the view and rest as they hike.  Note: For this event, the Prairie Dogs will have the option of joining a slower-paced nature hike.

Geckos – For the person or family new to hiking or just coming back from a long time away.  Hikes are approximately 2 miles in length of relatively flat terrain.

Children

Children are more than welcome to join this event, but please read the Children section of the "Things to Know" page before you come.

Roadrunners - minimum age of 15*, if experienced

Coyotes - minimum age of 10*, if experienced

Prairie Dogs & Geckos - minimum age of 6*, unless you are going to carry them if needed
